How We Operate
Chicago Porta Pros runs on the principle that you shouldn't have to chase down five vendors for five things. We keep inventory on hand for same-day delivery to most Chicago locations. A standard unit holds 60 to 70 gallons and measures about 44 by 48 inches on the ground, so placement is easier on tight sites than people expect. When you call with a job that runs three days or three months, we size the rental to match your timeline and your worker count, not some inflexible minimum.
We follow OSHA 1926.51(c), which sets the ratio of toilet facilities to workers on construction sites. For 20 workers or fewer, you need one facility. That's the baseline we use to talk through how many units make sense for your crew. Our service team handles pickup, delivery and weekly service calls to keep tanks pumped and interiors clean. What Sets Us Apart
Every rental comes with a real service schedule. Under the ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 standard, one service visit per week is the baseline interval for up to 10 users over a 40 hour week. We don't skip weeks or leave a unit sitting. You get paperwork that tracks every service, so you have a record if an inspector asks. That matters for construction site services where compliance is built into the bid.
We've worked with contractors, event planners, farms and homeowners doing major renovation. The jobs run the full range: a three-day concrete pour in Oak Lawn 11.1 miles south, a festival with 2,000 attendees, a home kitchen remodel with a crew of four. Each one teaches us something about placement, accessibility and timing. We remember that a restroom trailer on a muddy lot needs a gravel pad underneath, and that an ADA accessible porta potty in a public space needs a 60 inch diameter turning circle per ADA Standards section 304.3.1.
Services We Provide
Chicago Porta Pros rents portable toilets in standard and deluxe configurations, ADA accessible units, and restroom trailers with flushing toilets and sinks. We also handle roll-off dumpster rental, septic pumping service, storage container rental, temporary fence rental and handwashing station rental.
For construction work where employees apply paints, coatings or herbicides, OSHA 1926.51(f)(1) requires washing facilities with soap and towels or a hand drying device per 29 CFR 1910.141(d)(2). Our handwashing stations meet that requirement. Septic tanks in residential use are typically pumped every 3 to 5 years, depending on tank size and household size. A grease interceptor gets pumped when fats, oils, grease and solids reach 25 percent of the liquid depth.
You can request a quote by phone or online and we'll walk through your project. Most rentals start the next business day. If you have questions about permit requirements or placement, we can talk through that before you commit.
What's the typical rental term?
Most construction jobs run one to four weeks. Events often run just one weekend. Monthly rentals suit home renovations or seasonal work. We price all three durations so you don't pay event rates for a month-long job.
Do you deliver outside Chicago?
We serve Chicago and the surrounding suburbs within reasonable driving distance, including Oak Lawn, Elmhurst, Downers Grove, Hammond, Glenview, Mount Prospect and Gary. Call to confirm your address.
How do I know how many units I need?
It depends on your worker count and your job timeline. OSHA 1926.51(c) sets the minimum: 1 facility for 20 workers or fewer, then 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers up to 200. We can help you calculate from there based on your specific crew.
Can you service a porta potty in winter?
Yes. We pump and service year-round. Cold slows down tank activity but doesn't stop the process. Let us know if you're renting in December or January and we'll adjust the service schedule.
What if I have an emergency on a weekend?
Call us. We handle emergency situations and can discuss weekend rates for urgent pickup or service.
